Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Fuse Works LLC ("we," "us," "our") collects through FirstPass (the desktop app and this website), and how we use it.
The short version: your actual video and audio footage never leaves your computer. Everything below is about the small amount of account and usage data needed to run your subscription, your stats, and the website.
1. Information We Collect
- Account info: email address, username, country (optional), and a securely hashed password — we never store your password in plain text.
- Payment info: handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation that you're subscribed and your subscription status — never your card number.
- Usage stats: when you run FirstPass, the app sends us aggregate numbers — how many runs, total footage hours processed, processing time, and similar counts — to power your account stats, the leaderboard, and achievements. This is metadata about your usage, not your actual video or audio.
- Bug reports: if you submit one through the /support page, we store the subject, message, any photos or screenshots you attach (up to 3), your account email, and a ticket number. Bug reports are only seen by us, not posted publicly.
- Forum content: if you use the community forum, we store your posts, replies, attached images, votes, saved and followed posts, mutes, reports you file, and your notifications. Posts, replies, images, your username, badge, and forum activity are public — anyone can read them, with or without an account. Votes, saves, follows, mutes, and reports are not shown publicly. Moderators can see reports and posts held for review, and we keep a log of moderation actions (who did what to which post, and why).
- Basic server logs: like any website, our hosting/DNS providers (Render, Cloudflare) log requests including IP address, for security and reliability — standard web server behavior, not something we actively review per-user.
- Cookies: one cookie, to keep you logged in. No third-party ad-tracking or analytics cookies.
- "Email me the link": if you ask us to email you the download link (e.g. from your phone), we use that address only to send that one email. We don't store it or add it to any list.
- Security limits: to stop password guessing and spam, we briefly keep counts of failed logins, sign-ups, and password-reset requests per account and IP address. These are held in memory only and expire within an hour.
2. What We Don't Collect
We never receive, upload, or store your raw video or audio footage. FirstPass processes everything locally on your own machine and only sends the resulting timeline file to your own editing software — not to us. Photos are only ever sent if you attach them yourself to a bug report or forum post.
3. How We Use Information
- To run your account and subscription (authenticate you, process payments, enforce free-tier limits)
- To power features you opt into — leaderboard rank, friends, achievements, your public profile page, and the community forum (including moderation and spam/abuse prevention)
- To respond to support requests and bug reports
- To send transactional email (password resets, update notices) via Resend — we don't currently send marketing email, and if that changes, you'll be able to opt out
- To keep the Service secure and working (fraud/abuse prevention, debugging)
4. Who We Share It With
We don't sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with the vendors that run the Service:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Render — application and database hosting
- Cloudflare — DNS and email routing
Each processes data as our service provider, under their own security practices — not for their own marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We keep your account data as long as your account is active. You can delete your account anytime by emailing support@firstpasseditor.com — this removes your account, stats, bug reports (and their photos), and your forum content (posts with their images and replies, your replies on other posts, votes, saves, follows, mutes, and reports) from our database. Replies other people left on your posts are deleted with them; replies to your replies on other posts stay, moved up one level. Moderation-log entries stay as an audit trail with your account removed from them. You can also delete your own individual posts and replies anytime. Deleted data may remain in our hosting provider's backups for a limited time until those backups expire.
6. Your Rights
Regardless of where you're located, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data anytime — email support@firstpasseditor.com. If you're in the EU/UK or California, this includes any additional rights those laws provide (e.g. data portability, opting out of sale — we don't sell data, so that one's moot).
7. Security
Passwords are hashed and salted, never stored in plain text. All traffic to the site and backend is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we don't store the one thing that would matter most — your actual footage — in the first place.
8. Children
FirstPass isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. International Users
Our servers are located in the United States. If you're using the Service from outside the US, your data will be processed here.
10. Changes to This Policy
We'll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes, with a new effective date at the top.
